| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is printed in blue and presents a central vignette of the Reserve Bank of India seal, flanked on either side by elephant and mahout figures in a classical heraldic composition, with a palm tree at the centre of the seal. The denomination '10' appears in large numerals to the right within a decorative cartouche, while multilingual inscriptions of the denomination in various Indian scripts are arranged in a vertical panel to the left. 'TEN RUPEES' is lettered in bold across the lower margin. |

Pick 19 belongs to the earliest Reserve Bank of India series, issued just two years after the RBI's establishment in 1935. The Taylor signature dates the earliest printings; notes bearing C.D. Deshmukh's signature — he became Governor in 1943 — reflect wartime production, when paper quality and allocation were both under pressure from the British war effort.
Thomas De La Rue printed the series in London throughout, which created practical complications: transporting finished currency across U-boat-patrolled waters during the war years was not a trivial logistical matter. Some shipments were delayed or rerouted through South Africa.
