Issued to mark Egypt's Cairo International Fair, this commemorative was struck in two calendar years corresponding to the Islamic and Gregorian dating systems used concurrently on Egyptian coinage of the period — accounting for the 1970–1971 spread. The Fair itself had been a significant annual trade event since its postwar revival, used deliberately by Nasser's government to project industrial and economic ambition to foreign delegations, particularly from non-aligned nations.
The multiple reference numbers across Schön and MHC reflect genuine cataloging disagreements over date variety attribution rather than differing types.
