Obverse description Central field features the royal tughra (cipher) of Amanullah Khan enclosed within a circular wreath of wheat or laurel sprays, with the date in Eastern Arabic numerals (١٣٠٦) inscribed below the tughra. The Arabic legend افغانستان (Afghanistan) arcs across the upper portion of the coin above the central device. The overall design reflects the Ottoman-influenced calligraphic tradition adapted for Afghan royal coinage of the period.
