| 背面描述 | An outer beaded border frames the field, with a concentric inner beaded circle enclosing the central denomination. The large numeral 10, denoting ten Pfennig, is prominently displayed in the center of the inner circle. The circular legend KRIEGSNOTGELD (war emergency money) runs between the two beaded borders. Below the inner circle, three five-pointed stars are arranged in a triangular formation at the base of the field. |

Schmiedeberg's iron notgeld of 1918 was a direct consequence of the wartime metal requisitions that had stripped German municipalities of copper and zinc coinage since 1916. By late 1918, with the Imperial government collapsing and central coin production paralyzed, hundreds of small towns issued their own emergency pieces simply to keep local commerce moving. Iron was the last practical option — everything more valuable had long since been melted down for the war effort.
