| Opis awersu | A left-facing horse head in profile occupies the central field, rendered in relief with bold, simplified lines characteristic of wartime emergency coinage. The circular legend RAPP-MOTORENWERKE arcs across the upper periphery, while MÜNCHEN curves along the lower margin, the two separated by six-pointed star ornaments at either side. The design reflects the corporate identity of the Munich-based aero-engine manufacturer, the horse being a direct reference to the firm's name (Rapp meaning horse in Bavarian dialect). The flat, unadorned field and the octagonal flan are typical of Kleingeldersatzmarken (small-change substitute tokens) produced during the First World War period. |

Rapp Motorenwerke was a small Munich aero-engine manufacturer that would, within a few years of issuing this token, be reorganized and renamed as Bayerische Motoren Werke — BMW — in 1917. Notgeld and factory tokens of this type circulated internally among workers during the wartime labor economy, substituting for small change that had largely vanished from circulation as the public hoarded metal coinage after 1914.
The zinc composition places this firmly in the WWI shortage period.
