| Reverse description | The large numeral 10, denoting the denomination of ten Pfennig, is prominently displayed in the central field within a decorative beaded inner circle composed of alternating large and small pellets. The circular legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE (small-change substitute token) runs around the upper and lateral periphery, flanked at the lower sides by six-pointed star ornaments and a small circular pellet device at the base. The overall design is functional and austere, consistent with emergency notgeld coinage of the 1914–1924 period. The flat relief and plain edge are characteristic of zinc substitute tokens struck for industrial enterprises during the coin shortage of the First World War era. |

Rapp Motorenwerke was a small Munich aero-engine manufacturer that would, within a few years of issuing this token, be reorganized and renamed as Bayerische Motoren Werke — BMW — in 1917. Notgeld and factory tokens of this type circulated internally among workers during the wartime labor economy, substituting for small change that had largely vanished from circulation as the public hoarded metal coinage after 1914.
The zinc composition places this firmly in the WWI shortage period.
