Opmerkingen

The Provincia de Buenos Ayres operated its own note-issuing apparatus independently of the Argentine Confederation for much of the nineteenth century — Buenos Aires didn't fully integrate into the national banking framework until well after the 1862 political unification, and provincial paper continued circulating under provincial authority for years beyond that. This note falls squarely in that transitional period, when Buenos Aires still jealously maintained its own fiscal machinery.

ABNC's involvement was typical for major Latin American issuers of the period seeking engraved security printing beyond what local facilities could provide. The PS prefix in the Pick catalogue indicates this is a state-chartered or provincial issue rather than a national bank series.
