To the right of the central motif, the characters 和平 (Peace) and 自由 (Freedom) are inscribed vertically in the field. The commemorative legend 臺灣第一次和平公投紀念 (Taiwan's First Peaceful Referendum Commemoration) arcs along the upper periphery in Chinese characters. The date inscription 中華民國九十三年三月二十日 (Republic of China, March 20, 2004) runs along the lower periphery in Chinese, with the Gregorian year 2004 appearing at the bottom centre.
