Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the coat of arms of Malawi centred in the field, depicting a quartered shield supported by a lion rampant to the left and a leopard rampant to the right, with a rising sun in base and a fish eagle atop the crest. A ribbon scroll at the base of the shield bears the national motto. The legend BANK OF MALAWI arcs along the upper periphery, with UNITY AND FREEDOM inscribed on the motto ribbon of the arms. The denomination 10 KWACHA appears along the lower periphery. Two floral rosette ornaments flank the shield at the mid-field, and a beaded border frames the entire design.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a hand inserting a ballot into an open book inscribed with the Chinese characters 公民投票法 (Referendum Act), superimposed over a stylised outline map of Taiwan in the central field. To the right of the central motif, the characters 和平 (Peace) and 自由 (Freedom) are inscribed vertically in the field. The commemorative legend 臺灣第一次和平公投紀念 (Taiwan's First Peaceful Referendum Commemoration) arcs along the upper periphery in Chinese characters. The date inscription 中華民國九十三年三月二十日 (Republic of China, March 20, 2004) runs along the lower periphery in Chinese, with the Gregorian year 2004 appearing at the bottom centre. Two floral rosette ornaments flank the central device, and a beaded border frames the entire composition.
