| Obverse description | Central field features the coat of arms of the Central Bank of Malta, depicting two armoured knights in full plate armour as supporters flanking a quartered shield, surmounted by a mural crown, with the motto FIDUCIA FORTIS and the founding year 1958 inscribed on a scroll below. The arms are superimposed upon a large eight-pointed Maltese Cross rendered in high relief, set within a raised circular beaded border. The surrounding annular field is decorated with an intricate chainmail lattice pattern, with stylised acanthus scrollwork elements visible at the sides. The country name MALTA appears in the upper legend and the date 2021 in the lower legend, with the mintmaster initials MF and the inscription 2 OZ AG 999.9 incorporated into the design. |
