| Obverse description | The obverse of this rectangular silver bar-format coin features the national coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia prominently centered in the mirror-polished field, depicting a sailing ship, a palm tree, a rising sun, a plow, and a shovel on a shield, encircled by the motto legend 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' and the lower legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA'. The date '1997' is split to either side of the arms, with '19' to the left and '97' to the right. Above the arms, the legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' is inscribed in bold relief across the upper portion of the flan. The denomination '10 DOLLARS' appears in large characters below the arms, with the fineness inscription 'ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER' along the lower margin. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, produced in color enamel over a mirror-polished silver field, commemorates the handover of Hong Kong to China on 1 July 1997. The upper section depicts the facade of a prominent official building adorned with the Chinese national emblem — a red banner bearing a yellow five-pointed star — rendered in polychrome enamel. To the upper right, a framed portrait relief of Deng Xiaoping is shown in right-facing profile. Colorful enamel floral motifs, including a red peony and a pink bauhinia flower, embellish the central band, beneath which a bilingual Chinese inscription records the date and occasion. The lower half of the reverse features a detailed relief panorama of the Hong Kong skyline with its characteristic skyscrapers set against a harbour scene. |
