Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features a stylised globe depicted with a graticule grid, upon which the landmasses of the Caribbean island chain and surrounding continental coastlines are shown in raised relief. The globe is enclosed within a plain inner circle. The circular legend 'CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT BANK' arches around the upper periphery, while the commemorative anniversary dates '1970 · 1980' are inscribed along the lower border, marking the institution's first decade. The mirror-proof fields and frosted devices lend exceptional contrast to the cartographic design.

Aanvullende informatie

The Caribbean Development Bank, headquartered in Barbados, was established in 1970 largely at the initiative of Canada, which saw regional development lending as a way to stabilize newly independent Commonwealth nations in the Eastern Caribbean. This proof issue marks the bank's first decade — a period during which it financed infrastructure across islands with no realistic access to commercial credit markets.

The .925 silver version was struck alongside a cupro-nickel circulation issue; the proof was almost certainly produced at the Royal Mint on contract, as was standard practice for Eastern Caribbean States commemoratives of this period.
