Obverse description The obverse is engraved in dark blue-black intaglio on a fine guilloche underprint, with the bank title 'THE BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA' in bold lettering across the upper centre, flanked by oval '10' medallions at left and right. The central vignette presents the Nova Scotia provincial coat of arms supported by two Indigenous figures, while secondary vignettes at lower left and lower right depict a fishing scene and a sailing vessel respectively. Two red serial numbers appear in the lateral margins, with the date 'Jan. 2, 1935' and place of issue 'Halifax, N.S.' printed above, and two manuscript facsimile signatures for the President and General Manager below.
