Obverse description Central field features the Coat of Arms of Ceylon, depicting the Sinhala lion passant holding a sword, set within a sunburst pattern enclosed by a circular border. A crown appears above the arms. Below the central device, a ribbon cartouche bears the trilingual legend in Sinhala, Tamil, and Latin scripts identifying the issuing authority. The word TRIAL is inscribed vertically in the right field. The scalloped flan with eight notches frames the entire design.
