Obverse description Five crowned royal cyphers of King Léopold II, each comprising an interlaced 'L' monogram surmounted by a royal crown, arranged radially around the central hole to form a five-pointed star pattern. An inner beaded circle frames the central design, while the bilingual legend 'CONGO BELGE · BELGISCH-CONGO ·' runs along the outer rim. A small five-pointed star appears at the lower left of the field, and the toothed border encircles the entire design.
