| 背面描述 | Printed entirely in brown on plain paper, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate guilloche lattice border with rosette cornerpieces and the denomination numeral 10 repeated in each corner within ornate cartouches. A central rectangular panel framed by intricate lathe-work carries the full text of the relevant article of the Ley of 17 January 1898 governing the redemption and withdrawal of these treasury letters. The diagonal legend LETRA DE TESORERÍA runs along the lower right border, and PROVINCIA DE SAN JUAN along the upper left border, both set within guilloche bands. |

San Juan's provincial treasury issued small-denomination fractional notes in the late 1890s partly to compensate for a chronic shortage of low-value metallic coin in the interior provinces — a persistent structural problem in Argentina that federal monetary consolidation never fully resolved at the local level. The Compañía Sudamericana de Billetes de Banco was the dominant commercial printer for provincial and municipal fiscal paper in this period, handling output for dozens of Argentine issuers out of its Buenos Aires facility.
Provincial issues from San Juan at this denomination are rarely encountered in any condition, having circulated hard in a largely agricultural economy before being worn to illegibility.
