| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square inner rim, with four Chinese characters in clerical script disposed in the four quadrants, read in the traditional order top-to-bottom and right-to-left to render the reign title and era name 永隆通寶 (Yonglong Tongbao). The characters are boldly cast in high relief against a flat field. A raised outer rim borders the coin. The surfaces show heavy iron patination with areas of gold-toned encrustation consistent with long burial. |
