Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, four large Chinese characters arranged vertically and horizontally reading 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao) dominate the central field, with a six-petalled rosette at the centre. The upper arc of the beaded circle bears the mint inscription 安徽省造 (Made in Anhwei Province), while the lower arc carries the denomination 當十 (10 Cash). Flanking the central characters to the left and right, outside the beaded circle, are Manchu script characters reading ᠪᠣᠣ ᠠᠨ (Boo-an), identifying the An-hwei Mint. The overall design is typical of the late Qing provincial machine-struck cash coinage.
