The lettering is rendered in a characteristic Lombard uncial style, disposed in quadrants around the central cross motif. The overall composition reflects the Carolingian-influenced tremissis typology adapted by Lombard mints. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered Lombard gold coinage of the eighth century. |
