| Obverse description | Central field features a plain cross pattée set within a beaded inner circle, its four arms extending nearly to the inner border. The cross divides the inner field into four quadrants with a slightly raised and worn surface characteristic of hammered billon coinage. Surrounding the inner circle, the Latin legend reads TOM MOCENIGO DVX, identifying the Doge Tomaso Mocenigo as issuing authority, introduced and closed by cross stops. The overall flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck medieval Venetian practice. |
