| Obverse description | Full-length standing figure of Hermann von Brüggeneye, Master of the Livonian Order, depicted in full plate armour and facing the viewer. The figure holds a raised sword in the right hand and rests the left hand upon a shield bearing the arms of the Livonian Order — a cross with a small crosslet — placed at his feet. The figure is rendered in a bold, late-Gothic style typical of early sixteenth-century German-influenced die work. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery in Gothic lettering. |
