The rider wears a plumed helmet and full plate armor with elaborate surface decoration. The scene occupies the full field within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend naming the three co-ruling counts — Gebhard, Johann Georg, and Peter Ernst — runs continuously around the periphery, separated by small ornamental stops. |

The date, here 1556, is inscribed in the lower portion of the field beneath the shield. A continuous Latin legend encircles the composition within a beaded border, identifying the issuers as counts and lords of Mansfeld. |
