| Obverse description | Armored equestrian figure of a count depicted in right-facing profile, mounted on a rearing horse and thrusting a lance downward into a dragon prostrate beneath the hooves, rendered in the vigorous late-Renaissance style typical of mid-sixteenth-century German thalers. The rider wears a plumed helmet and full plate armor with elaborate surface decoration. The scene occupies the full field within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend naming the three co-ruling counts — Gebhard, Johann Georg, and Peter Ernst — runs continuously around the periphery, separated by small ornamental stops. |

| Reverse description | Central device consisting of a large quartered and impaled heraldic achievement comprising the arms of the Mansfeld comital line, surmounted by two ornate crested helms with elaborate mantling in the Renaissance tradition. The date, here 1556, is inscribed in the lower portion of the field beneath the shield. A continuous Latin legend encircles the composition within a beaded border, identifying the issuers as counts and lords of Mansfeld. |
