Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate and armored bust of Frederick I, King of Prussia, facing right, wearing a long flowing wig and elaborately engraved cuirass with decorative shoulder pauldron. The portrait is executed in high relief in the Baroque manner, with fine detail in the hair, laurel wreath, and armor ornamentation. The circular Latin legend runs along the inner border of the milled edge, reading FRIDERICUS • D • G • REX BORVSS • EL • BR •, identifying the king by name, divine right, and his titles as King of Prussia and Elector of Brandenburg.

Aanvullende informatie

Frederick I was crowned King in Prussia on January 18, 1701 — a title carefully worded to sidestep Polish suzerainty over Ducal Prussia — and the Ausbeute thalers struck that year commemorated silver production from the Rothenburg mines in Silesia. Ausbeute coinage, struck directly from freshly extracted ore to celebrate a mine's yield, occupied a ceremonial tier above ordinary currency; recipients were mining officials, investors, and court favorites rather than market traders.

The Dav GT II#2554A attribution places this among the rarer die marriages of the type.
