| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of Duke Francis Josias facing right, depicted in elaborate lace cravat and armored shoulder drapery in the Baroque style. The effigy shows the Duke in a flowing wig, with fine engraving detail on the clothing and hair. The mintmaster's initials ST appear in the lower field beneath the truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads FRANCISCVS IOSIAS D. G. D. S. COBVRG SAALFELD, interrupted at the base by the bust truncation. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central small shield bearing the quartered arms of the duchy with the escutcheon of ducal Saxony, superimposed upon a larger quartered heraldic shield, the whole ensigned by a ducal crown and set within an ornate Baroque cartouche. The surrounding Latin legend denotes the coin's fineness and weight standard, with the date 1764 and mintmaster's initials I.C.E. incorporated at the conclusion of the legend. The overall reverse composition is characteristic of mid-eighteenth-century German Thaler coinage, with rich decorative detail in the frame and shield design. |
