| Obverse description | Draped bust of Duke Francis Josias facing right, depicted in elaborate lace cravat and armored shoulder drapery in the Baroque style. The effigy shows the Duke in a flowing wig, with fine engraving detail on the clothing and hair. The mintmaster's initials ST appear in the lower field beneath the truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads FRANCISCVS IOSIAS D. G. D. S. COBVRG SAALFELD, interrupted at the base by the bust truncation. |
