Christian of Brandenburg-Bayreuth ruled during the opening phase of the Thirty Years' War, and his thaler issues of this period reflect a margraviate under serious military and fiscal strain. The conflict had swept into Franconia by the late 1620s, with Wallenstein's imperial forces extracting contributions from Protestant territories across the region. Coinage continuity under these conditions was not guaranteed.
The KM#52.1 designation distinguishes this from closely related die pairings in the series — ST#6267 in the Schnee corpus being the more precise reference for attribution.
