The effigy occupies the majority of the field, with fine detail in the drapery folds and facial features. A beaded inner border frames the design. The composition is dynamic and highly detailed, with the rearing horse rendered in vigorous relief. A papal shield bearing the Borghese arms appears at the base of the design. A beaded inner border surrounds the central scene. The circumferential legend S·GEORGIVS·FER PARIÆ·PROTEC· identifies the patron saint and the city of Ferrara. |
