Obverse description Central field dominated by a stylised royal umbrella (chhatri) depicted in relief, a traditional symbol of sovereign authority in Indian princely coinage. A multi-line Persian legend surrounds and fills the field, reading from the left, invoking the title of Queen Victoria as ruler of England. The date of issue, 1871 in Eastern Arabic numerals, appears to the right of the central device. The flan is irregular and thick, characteristic of hand-hammered copper coinage of the period. The overall execution is bold but somewhat crude, consistent with local mint production.
