Reverse description A highly stylized and schematically rendered goddess figure occupies the central field, depicted standing with a flowing cloak or garment draped about her form, in a manner derived from the Gupta-period Lakshmi reverse type. The figure retains vestigial iconographic elements of the earlier Gupta prototype, though rendered with considerable stylistic degeneration. A Brahmi legend, heavily degraded and partially illegible, is disposed around the periphery of the flan. Auxiliary symbols and ornamental devices appear in the surrounding field. The overall execution is characteristic of the debased die-cutting tradition of the Varendra-Samatata regional coinage of the late seventh to early eighth century.
