Descrizione del dritto	Draped and crowned effigy of King George V facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state with decorations visible at the chest. The legend GEORGIVS V surrounds the left and lower portion of the field, while D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND. IMP: continues around the upper right, separated by stops. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features, beard, and regalia. A beaded inner border frames the entire design.

Descrizione del rovescio	A tall, detailed palm tree occupies the center of the field, its trunk dividing the date 19-36 to either side, with the word SPECIMEN inscribed above the date. Tropical ground cover and vegetation are depicted at the base of the palm tree. The design is enclosed within a circular border with ornate scroll flourishes at the lower left and right. The legend BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs around the upper periphery, while ONE SHILLING curves along the lower margin, all within a beaded border.
