Aversbeschreibung	Draped and crowned effigy of King George V facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state with decorations visible at the chest. The legend GEORGIVS V surrounds the left and lower portion of the field, while D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND. IMP: continues around the upper right, separated by stops. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features, beard, and regalia. A beaded inner border frames the entire design.

Reversbeschreibung	A tall, detailed palm tree occupies the center of the field, its trunk dividing the date 19-36 to either side, with the word SPECIMEN inscribed above the date. The legend BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs around the upper periphery, while ONE SHILLING curves along the lower margin, all within a beaded border.
