正面铭文 LATVIJA HUGUENIN
背面描述 The numeral '1' is prominently displayed in the upper portion of the field in a large, stylized art nouveau script, accompanied below by the denomination legend 'Santims' rendered in flowing cursive lettering. The four-digit date appears beneath the denomination. A small decorative scroll motif is situated at the base of the field, and the engraver's signature R. ZARIŅŠ appears in small letters along the lower rim. The overall typographic design reflects the distinctive artistic sensibility of Rihards Zariņš.

附加信息

Latvia's first independent coinage series, launched in 1922, was itself a political act — the young republic had declared independence from both German occupation and Soviet incursion just three years earlier, and establishing a national currency was as much about asserting statehood as facilitating commerce. The santims denominations were struck at the British Royal Mint under contract, Latvia lacking domestic minting capacity at the time.

Production ran intermittently across thirteen years, with most circulation strikes dating to the early 1930s.
