| Описание аверса | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic tughra-style honorific legend arranged in four horizontal bands within a plain inner border, all enclosed by a bold beaded outer border. The inscription reads the full Ottoman royal titulature of Sultan Selim III, proclaiming him Sultan of the Two Lands and Khagan of the Two Seas. The lettering is rendered in a robust, hand-engraved calligraphic style typical of late 18th-century Ottoman hammered coinage. No figural imagery is present, the design being entirely epigraphic in character. The overall style reflects the provincial Tunisian adaptation of standard Ottoman coin iconography. |

Selim III's reform program, the Nizam-ı Cedid, was financed partly through aggressive manipulation of the billon coinage issued across Ottoman dependencies, including Tunis. The Beylik struck these rials under its semi-autonomous monetary authority, and the omission of the regnal year — the "sanah" — distinguishes this subtype from KM#72.1, likely reflecting a deliberate die preparation shortcut rather than a policy change.
Billon content varied considerably across this period as the Tunisian treasury struggled with silver shortages exacerbated by Mediterranean trade disruption during the French Revolutionary Wars.
