| 正面描述 | Central field features the national emblem of Oman — two crossed khanjar daggers overlaid with a curved janbiya and belt, surmounted by a royal crown — all rendered in high relief within a raised inner circle. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the emblem, with the name of Sultan Qaboos bin Said arcing across the upper field and the inscription 'Sultan of Oman' across the lower field. The Hijri date range ١٣٩٠–١٤٠٠ (1390–1400 AH), commemorating the tenth anniversary of Sultan Qaboos's accession, appears within the inner circle beneath the emblem. |

Issued to mark the tenth anniversary of Sultan Qaboos bin Said's accession, which followed his July 1970 palace coup against his own father, Said bin Taimur. The elder Sultan had ruled Oman in near-total isolation — banning radios, eyeglasses, and travel abroad — leaving the country with only three schools and ten kilometers of paved road at the time of his removal.
The .917 fine gold standard places this squarely in the British sovereign tradition, a deliberate choice for a state still heavily dependent on UK financial and military relationships in 1980.
