Facing head of an augur rendered in low relief within a plain raised border, wearing the characteristic pointed apex or ritual cap of the augural priesthood. The facial features, though worn, display an archaic stylistic treatment typical of Etruscan aes grave production. Three pellets, denoting the quadrans denomination, appear in the lower field. The broad, irregular flan is characteristic of the heavy cast bronze coinage of central Italy in this period. |

Sacrificial implements of the augural rite displayed in the field: a makaira (curved sacrificial knife) and a secespita (ritual axe), rendered in low relief. Three pellets indicating the quadrans value are placed at the centre of the design, with a crescent symbol to the right serving as a mint or series mark. The arrangement is bold and uncluttered, consistent with the schematic iconographic conventions of Etruscan aes grave coinage. |
