| 裏面の説明 | The entire reverse is occupied by a single large central vignette of intricate De La Rue engine-turned guilloche work, printed in steel blue on a cream ground, comprising an oval medallion of interlaced lathe-work rosettes at centre surrounded by concentric bands of floral and acanthus scrollwork, with elaborate acanthus-leaf volutes extending horizontally to each side, the whole design unlettered and serving purely as an anti-counterfeiting ornamental motif. |

The Falkland Islands 1 Pound series beginning with P#5 was issued under Letters Patent authority, not through any local banking institution — the colonial government itself stood as issuer, a straightforward arrangement for a territory with no commercial bank of its own. De La Rue's engraving quality on this series is notably fine, placing it well above the utilitarian standard of many contemporaneous colonial issues of comparable circulation volume.
These notes saw hard use in a small, isolated community where replacement was slow and damaged notes remained in circulation far longer than metropolitan equivalents. Low original print runs combined with that circulation reality make genuinely unimpaired examples uncommon.
