| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse is dominated by a large illuminated capital letter in the style of medieval Irish manuscript art, surrounded by a continuous field of Old Irish calligraphic text rendered in olive-green and red on a pale guilloche ground, reproducing a decorated excerpt from Lebor na hUidre, the oldest surviving manuscript in Middle Irish. A panel at right carries the bilingual bank title 'Central Bank of Ireland' in period-style lettering, with a bold intaglio-printed '£1' denomination numeral beneath and the legend 'legal tender' below. |
