Obverse description Vignette of Queen Medb, legendary sovereign of Connacht, at right, rendered in a stylised illustrative manner. The centre bears a pre-Christian geometric underprint derived from archaeological bone slip artefacts, while the background carries an excerpt from the Táin Bó Cúailnge, Ireland's foremost mythological epic, in Old Irish script. Bank title and legal tender inscription appear in Irish along the upper and lower margins.
