| Beschrijving voorzijde | The left portion of the obverse carries an intaglio-printed oval vignette of Lady Hazel Lavery, draped in a shawl, serving as the allegorical personification of Ireland, set against a fine guilloche underprint in green and yellow tones. The bilingual issuer title — "Currency Commission Ireland" and "Coimisiún Airgid Reatha Éire" — appears in a dark banner across the top, with denomination numerals in the four corners and a large sterling pound symbol in guilloche work at the lower centre. Two manuscript signatures appear to the right of the portrait, identified respectively as Chairman of the Currency Commission and Secretary of the Department of Finance, with the date and serial number printed in red. |

The Currency Commission Ireland was actually superseded by the Central Bank of Ireland in 1943, making notes bearing this issuer's name among the final outputs of a transitional institution. The 1941–42 date range falls squarely within Ireland's Emergency period — the Irish government's term for the Second World War — during which cross-channel trade and communications with Waterlow & Sons in London were complicated by wartime shipping and security concerns, yet printing continued uninterrupted.
Brennan served as Currency Commission chairman from its foundation in 1927; McElligott was Secretary of the Department of Finance. Both signatures appeared on Commission notes throughout the series run, so their co-presence here is unremarkable except as a record of institutional continuity right up to dissolution.
