| Description du revers | A bold voided cross of Portuguese type occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with slightly splayed arms, contained within a beaded inner circle. The cross is unadorned and symmetrical, displaying the characteristic form associated with the Order of Christ as seen on Portuguese coinage of the period. The surrounding annular field carries the Latin religious legend, punctuated by pellets, running continuously around the circumference between the beaded inner circle and the plain outer rim. The overall style is consistent with the hammered gold presentation coinage of the Dutch civic tradition in the seventeenth century. |
