Maria Theresia inherited a treasury gutted by the War of Austrian Succession and spent the late 1740s restructuring Habsburg finances from the ground up. The small copper pfennig issues of 1748–1750 belong to that period of fiscal reorganization, struck at Vienna as part of a broader effort to standardize the chaotic patchwork of denominations circulating across the hereditary lands.
Copper coinage of this type saw hard daily use and survivors in any decent state of preservation are genuinely scarce.
