The cartouche is surmounted by a decorative shell or leaf motif at the apex and flanked by boldly rendered acanthus-style volutes. The entire design is set within a plain field, surrounded by the same fine radial denticle border as the obverse. The overall composition is characteristic of the restrained yet decorative Viennese baroque engraving style of the mid-18th century. |
