Obverse description The obverse is printed in green-black tones on pale paper, centered by a large vignette of an eagle with wings fully spread, rendered in fine intaglio line work. Below the eagle, the firm name DANIEL GONZALEZ Y COMPA is set in bold letterpress type flanked by two ornate guilloche rosettes bearing the numeral 1. The note bears a handwritten date of August 1866 and the place name Mendoza, with two manuscript signatures at the lower portion.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in red, with a central oval guilloche medallion inscribed with the firm name and place, flanked symmetrically by two large circular guilloche rosettes each bearing the numeral 1. The legend UN PESO appears in large bold letterpress type at both the top and bottom of the note, with a repeating micro-text border of UNO running along the upper margin.
