Nachá is a tiny municipality in the comarca of Noguera, Lleida, Catalonia — one of hundreds of small Spanish localities that issued their own emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after the hoarding of coins and Republic-issued coinage created an acute shortage of small change from mid-1936 onward. The Gari Monserra catalogue documents thousands of these ayuntamiento emissions, many of which survive in single-digit quantities.
