Sindicato Agrícola de Jávea was an agricultural cooperative on the Valencia coast that found itself, like dozens of similar bodies across Republican Spain, printing its own emergency fractional currency during the Civil War. The central Republican government had essentially lost control of small-denomination coinage by 1937, and local entities — unions, municipalities, cooperatives — filled the gap with whatever printing resources they had. The dry embossed seal was the sindicato's primary authentication tool, a low-tech solution that worked precisely because forgery of such hyper-local scrip offered no practical reward.

Gari's cataloguing of these Valencian emissions remains the specialist reference, though survival rates vary enormously even within single series.
