Baldellou is a small municipality in the Huesca province of Aragon — population in the hundreds — and like dozens of similarly tiny Republican-controlled villages during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency paper scrip when the collapse of normal supply chains made coin scarce and central government currency unreliable. The CNT-FAI designation places it firmly in the anarcho-syndicalist collectivization network that briefly dominated much of rural Aragon from 1936 onward.

The thick card construction was deliberate: locally produced scrip often used whatever stock was available, and heavier material resisted the wear of daily market exchange better than thin paper. The Garicano-Montaner reference gap suggests no catalogued example has been formally verified — genuine survivors from village-level issues this small are genuinely uncommon.
