Aliaga is a small inland town in Teruel province, Aragon — precisely the kind of isolated municipality that found itself cut off from banking infrastructure during the early Republican zone chaos of 1936–37. Local councils across loyalist Spain issued emergency fractional paper when coin shortages became acute, as silver and copper were being hoarded or melted.
