Beneath that, in smaller lettering arranged in three lines, reads 'CORNER OF DANNA & RAGLAN STREETS', and 'BALLARAT' appears at the bottom. The circular legend around the periphery reads 'BREAD & BISCUIT BAKER FAMILY GROCER', all rendered in Latin script. The design is entirely typographic, characteristic of Australian colonial tradesmen's tokens of the period. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse displays a decorative central device consisting of an encircling grapevine with bunches of grapes and broad leaves arranged in a wreath-like composition within a beaded inner circle. The maker's attribution 'STOKES MAKER MEL.' is inscribed in small letters within the lower portion of the central device. The upper peripheral legend reads 'VICTORIA 1862' and the lower peripheral legend reads 'IN VINO VERITAS', both separated by raised dot stops and enclosed within a beaded outer border. The motto 'In vino veritas' (Latin: 'In wine there is truth') and the viticultural imagery are characteristic of this die type used by the Melbourne token manufacturer Stokes & Martin. |
