| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is entirely typographic in character, featuring the merchant's trade legend arranged in three lines across the central field: J. MACGREGOR above 320, / GEORGE STREET / SYDNEY, all in bold serif capital letters. The central text is enclosed within a fine beaded inner border, creating a concentric frame. The outer legend THE CITY TEA WAREHOUSE curves along the upper periphery, while the continuation of the merchant's name and address fills the lower arc, the whole bounded by a prominent milled denticle border. A small decorative floral ornament appears at the base of the coin, serving as a full stop to the circular legend. The design is purely commercial in nature, with no figurative or allegorical imagery, consistent with Australian colonial tradesmen's tokens of the 1850s–1860s. |
